Our third Isaiah 117 House, Greene County, opened their red door on November 25, 2019.
Greene County Location Leader, Gwyn Southerland’s Isaiah 117 House story: As and mother of two and a grandmother of six, I dearly love children. Not only my own, but all those around me. I am so blessed to be able to love on all the children who enter the door at the Isaiah House. After working at the same place of employment for 34 years, I found myself unemployed due to the place eliminating my position. I began attending the expansion meetings for Isaiah House because my church was wanting to be involved. These meetings were at lunchtime, so therefore I was able to go. Then one of my church family ladies said to me “You know they are going to hire a coordinator? Right?” Well I really just said ok and went on. A few months later a ground breaking was taking place and I went and it was so moving and emotional and so exciting! Again, I was still not working and really had not thought much about it. Later that year after the house was started, Greene County did hire a program coordinator after going through the proper channels, I was so blessed to assume this position! I am so blessed to walk this journey with amazing folks that are also employed at Isaiah House, a wonderful and compassionate advisory team who supports everything we do, and our volunteers. They truly love these children and all that Isaiah House stands for. I am so blessed to be part of their daily lives. We truly are a family here in Greene County.
