Originally built in 1922, the house that is now the Marion County Isaiah 117 House has a long and storied history. It was once a parsonage, then converted to a duplex, then passed through the hands of private sellers for several decades before falling into disrepair and eventually being known by the community as a place of darkness, evil, and heartbreak. It was donated to us in 2021 by Mount Pleasant Church and every detail of the house was thereafter renovated to prepare for its opening to Red Door Guests on August 13, 2023.

"I am an Indiana native and portrait photographer by trade, I was first introduced to Isaiah 117 House when I documented the grand opening of the Vanderburgh, IN house. As I met more volunteers and staff there, I was amazed that even though we came from all walks of life, everyone collectively came together to help care for kiddos in our community who need every resource our ministry can provide. From that point on I gave all the time I could as a volunteer, and it has been one of the greatest honors of my life to be on staff leading the Marion County House."

"I am a recent graduate of Purdue University, where I studied accounting, dance, and developmental/family sciences. Leaving school, I wanted to be involved in something that involved children, serving others, and my faith. I like to think the Isaiah 117 House found me just as much as I found it. The second I heard about the house, I knew it was exactly where I needed to be! After reaching out, everything fell perfectly into place, and I was hired as Support Coordinator for the Marion County house."

"I am a retired schoolteacher and Mamaw to 9 precious grandkids. Our grandchildren are actually how I became involved with foster care, as 2 of our grandchildren were adopted through foster care. Wanting to be more active in the foster care, but not feeling led to foster ourselves, we came across the Mike Rowe video about Isaiah 117 House and thought "I could do that." I was asked by Sarah McDaniel and a few other ladies to pray about what a house here in Marion County would look like. My husband (a caregiver as well) and I have had the blessing of being on board since the very beginning of building this home for children entering foster care, from construction to being a caregiver and now as Care Coordinator. So thankful to be on this journey!"
